Tasks
Tasks are the fundamental unit of work in Kamptrix. Every piece of actionable work — from a quick content update to a complex technical implementation — is tracked as a task.
Creating a task
You can create tasks in several ways:
- Click the + Add Task button at the bottom of any list
- Use the quick-add bar at the top of a project view
- Press the keyboard shortcut from anywhere within a project
New tasks are added to the current list and default to Open status with Normal priority.
Task fields
Each task has a set of fields you can fill in to provide context and keep work organized:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Title | A short, descriptive name for the task |
| Description | Rich-text area for details, requirements, or notes |
| Assignee | The person responsible for completing the task |
| Requested by | The person who asked for this work (useful for client-facing teams) |
| Priority | Urgency level: Urgent, High, Normal, or Low |
| Status | Current state: Open, In Progress, Review, or Completed |
| Due date | When the task should be finished |
| Tags | Labels for filtering and categorization |
Priority levels
| Priority | When to use |
|---|---|
| Urgent | Needs immediate attention — blocking other work or time-sensitive |
| High | Important and should be addressed soon |
| Normal | Standard work that follows the regular flow |
| Low | Nice-to-have or backlog items |
Status workflow
Tasks move through these statuses as work progresses:
Open → In Progress → Review → Completed
You can move tasks between statuses manually, or drag them across columns in Board View.
Task detail panel
Click any task to open its detail panel (or full page, depending on your view). Here you'll find:
- All editable fields listed above
- Subtasks
- Comments and activity log
- Attachments
- Time tracking
Subtasks
Break complex tasks into smaller steps using subtasks. Subtasks appear as a checklist within the parent task and can have their own assignees and due dates. Progress on subtasks rolls up into the parent task's completion indicator.
To add a subtask, open the task detail and click + Add Subtask.
Comments
Use the comments section on any task to discuss work, ask questions, or leave updates. Comments support mentions (@name) to notify specific team members. The activity log beneath comments shows a timeline of all changes made to the task.
Attachments
Attach files directly to tasks by dragging them into the task detail panel or clicking the attachment button. Supported file types include images, PDFs, documents, and more.
Time tracking
Track how long you spend on a task using the built-in time tracker. Start and stop the timer from the task detail panel, or log time manually. Tracked time is visible on the task and rolls up into project-level reporting.
Tips
- Write task titles as actionable statements (e.g., "Write homepage copy" rather than "Homepage").
- Use the "Requested by" field to maintain a clear link between client requests and internal execution.
- Set due dates even for low-priority tasks — it helps surface work that's been sitting too long.
