Departments
Departments (also called Spaces) are the top-level organizational units within your workspace. They let you group projects by team function — for example, SEO, Paid Media, Creative, or Development — so that each team has a dedicated home for their work.
How departments are structured
Every workspace contains one or more departments. Inside each department you'll find:
- Projects — collections of related tasks (see Projects)
- Team assignments — the people responsible for work within that department
- An overview page — a dashboard showing active projects, documents, and progress bars
The hierarchy looks like this:
Workspace
└── Department (Space)
└── Project
└── List / Tasks
Navigating to departments
- Open the Icon Bar on the left side of the screen.
- Click the Departments module icon.
- The sidebar expands to show all departments in your workspace.
From here you can select any department to open it, or drill down into its projects and lists directly from the sidebar tree.
Department overview page
When you open a department, you land on its Overview page. This gives you a bird's-eye view of everything happening inside:
| Section | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Active projects | A list of in-progress projects with progress bars |
| Documents | Shared docs attached to the department |
| Progress | Visual indicators of how much work is complete across all projects |
| Team | Members assigned to this department |
Use the overview to quickly assess workload distribution and identify projects that may need attention.
Creating a department
To create a new department:
- Open the Departments module from the icon bar.
- Click the + button at the top of the sidebar or use the "New Department" option.
- Give your department a name and optionally assign team members.
Tips
- Name departments after team functions rather than individual projects — this keeps the structure clean as your workspace grows.
- Use the overview page during standups or check-ins to get a quick read on team progress without opening individual projects.
